Moldovan swimmer Alexei Sancov became European junior champion in the 200 m freestyle. He finished the race with the result of 1:47.00, which is a new world record among juniors, IPN reports.
At the European championships in Netanya, Sancov won silver in the 100 m freestyle. He set Moldova’s record on this distance (0.49.01), which was held since 1988 by Yury Bashkatov, who won silver at the Olympic Games two times.
At the competition in Israel, Tatiana Salcutan won two bronzes, in the 100 m backstroke (1:01.55) and 200 m backstroke (2:10.12).
