The number of users of fixed Internet access services in 2015 rose by 25,200 on a year before. The sales of such services increased by 11.8% to over 1 billion lei. According to the statistical data of the ICT regulator (ANRCETI), the rise in sales was due to the larger revenues obtained by practically all the relevant providers, with “Moldtelecom”, “Starnet Solutii” and “Sun Communications” reporting the largest sales of such services.
The sales of “Moldtelecom” grew by 66.5 million lei, of “Starnet Solutii” – by 28.7 million lei, while of “Sun Communications” – by 12.5 million lei. The cumulative sales of the other 77 providers rose by 2.8 million lei to about 95.2 million lei. As a result, the monthly average revenue per use increased by 5%.
The most significant growth was recorded for Internet connections at speeds of 30 Mbps to 100 Mbps. The number of subscribers using this type of connections rose by 86% on 2014 to 176,200.
As regards the subscribers’ access infrastructure, the number of connections based on the fiber to the premises technology rose by 11.3% to over 289,000, while the number of connections based on Digital Subscriber Line fell by about 4% to 203,400.
The market share of the largest fixed internet service providers by turnover remained practically unchanged last year. The market shares of “Moldtelecom” and Starnet Solutii were 63.8% and, respectively, 22.6%, of “Sun Communications” – 4.6%, while of the other 77 providers together – 9%.
