The Government endorsed a legislative initiative proposed by MPs whereby the sale of alcoholic products to persons younger than 21 is banned. The age limit is now 18, IPN reports.
Sellers will be obliged to ask buyers to present the identity card or another official paper with picture to confirm their age. If the buyer refuses to provide the identity card, the seller will not be able to sell alcoholic drinks to this.
When the draft decision was discussed, the Cabinet members suggested making the control and penalties for the violation of the legislation on the sale of alcoholic products harsher, limiting further the advertising of alcoholic beverages and stepping up the activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
