The method of paying the mandatory health insurance premium by working persons will be different as from January 1, 2021. The premium will be fully paid by employees. Instead, the employers will assume responsibility for fully paying the contribution to the pension fund, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the National Health Insurance Company.
The employees until now paid 6% of the salary into the pension fund and 4.5% of the salary as health insurance, which is 10.5%. As from January 1, 2021, the salary earners will fully pay the health insurance equal to 9% of the earnings.
The changes made to the legislation on the health and social insurance systems are aimed at distributing the fiscal burden between employers and employees. They will contribute to simplifying the procedure for calculating and paying the given contributions by employers and to optimizing the process of managing payments. The sum of payments made by insured working persons will decrease by 1.5%.
