The salary earners will be able to ask for full or partial annual leave divided into several parts, if necessary. The Parliament’s commission for appointments and immunities on May 13 approved a bill to amend the Labor Code, IPN reports.

The authors of the bill propose excluding the legal provision saying that one of the parts of the leave should be at least 14 calendar days long. For justifiable reasons, with the written consent of the salary earner and with the written consent of representatives of salary earners, the leave can be put off. In such a case, the employee will be given only the days asked from the annual leave the current year, while the remaining part could be taken by the end of next year.

“This bill will create a legal framework that, in practice, will generate greater flexibility as to the provision of the divided annual leave, with the salary earner being also able to improve health and to solve family problems. Most of the times, the salary earners, for justifiable personal reasons, want to ask for annual leave divided into shorter periods of time, for example five, seven or ten days,” says the informative note to the bill.

The legislative proposal was submitted by a group of Democratic MPs.

The bill is to be debated by the other parliamentary commissions and will be later examined in Parliament.
