The employers of Moldova have salary arrears of over 20 million lei for January-May 2013. According to Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga, in the period between the inspections and June 1, the arrears diminished by about 800,000 lei, IPN reports.
“A number of 48 companies have salary arrears. The bank accounts of nine companies were blocked. We warn the employers to observe the legislation on remuneration, health and security at work,” said Valentina Buliga.
Labor Inspectorate head Dumitru Stavila has told IPN that if it turns out that the company has money, but does not pay salaries, the state bodies become involved and the company’s accounts can be blocked by court decision. The employers commit themselves to paying the salary arrears taking also into account the rate of inflation.
According to the Labor Inspectorate, inspections were carried out in January – May at about 2,200 companies with over 91,000 employees.
