The pays of teaching staff and scientific-teaching personnel of budget-funded education institutions will be indexed by 8% as of September 1, IPN reports, with reference to a Government decision to implement the law on teachers’ salaries.
Thus, the rector’s salary will rise to 6,460 lei, while of a university professor to 4,840 lei. The salary of university readers will increase by 325 lei, while of lecturers by about 300 lei. The pays of university assistants and trainers will also be indexed as will be the salaries of employees of general and vocational education institutions.
A sum of 130 million lei was earmarked in the state budget for the purpose.
It should be note that a petition with over 5,000 signatures, by which the teachers demand to increase their salaries by 50% and to double the salaries of ancillary personnel, was submitted to the Government on the initiative of the Community “Solidary Teachers”. The teachers hopes that during a month, until October 5, when it is celebrated World Teachers’ Day, the authorities will give a positive answer to their request or they will mount protests.
