Salaries of rural doctors to be increased from July 1

The Ministry of Health has announced that the salaries of doctors working in rural areas will be raised by 100% from July 1 this year until 2014. In three years, the ambulance service doctors will have a pay of 10,000 lei, while the nurses working at family doctors’ centers and the ambulance service will receive by 6,500 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi told a news conference that the salaries will be increased in order to improve the people’s access to medical services. There will be also provided bonuses to the salary. Andrei Usatyi expressed his conviction that the salary rise will motivate the specialists to work in rural areas. There will be also attracted young specialists with rich experience. The money will be allocated from grants, loans, partnerships, the public and private sectors, etc. The minister stressed that they are considering building nine regional hospitals in the country, which will be situated in nine health areas. The hospitals will be erected under public-private partnerships. The district hospitals will be transformed into community hospitals. The oncology service will be separated from the chemotherapy service and there will be created regional chemotherapy services.
