The persons holding public posts within the local public administration and the other employees of the local public authorities will receive higher salaries. The Cabinet approved a bill to amend and supplement the law on the pay system in the budget sector, IPN reports.

Thus, the mayors, deputy mayors, district heads and deputy heads, city district heads and deputy heads will monthly receive allowances of up to 50% of their salary. Now the average salary of a person holding an executive post in the local public administration is 6,135 lei. This will rise to 9,200 lei as a result of this decision.

The monthly pays of the technical and ancillary personnel of the local public authorities will rise to 3,580 lei.

The stimuli will be set by the local public administration depending on the funds available in the local budgets. This year the money for implementing the bill will be allocated from the state budget funds earmarked for covering additional costs of the local public authorities. A sum of 5.5 million lei will be needed monthly to provide stimulating payments.

Among the pursued goals are to raise the incomes of the budget-funded employees, to increase the attractiveness of the public post, to attract and keep the young specialists and to prevent corruption in the public administration bodies.
