Salaries in the judicial system expected to rise

The Government on Wednesday, January 23, approved a bill providing for amendments to the Law on the salary system in the budgetary sector to raise salaries for judges of all types of courts as well as for other categories of budget-paid functionaries.
The draft proposes increasing monthly salaries for judges up to the level of the salaries received by district heads.
This raise implies additional monthly costs of 319,000 lei and 3.8 million lei per year, taking into account social and medical insurance payments.
The draft brings amendments to the chapters “District Courts”, “Economic District Courts” and “Court-martial”, where the figures of 5200, 4700 and 4200 will be replaced with 5500, 5000, and 4800, respectively.
At the chapter “Constitutional Court” the figure 5350 is substituted with 5800.
At the chapter “Supreme Court of Justice” the figures 6000, 5350, and 5200 are substituted with 6500, 6000, 5800.
At the chapters “Appellate Courts” and “Economic Court of Appeals”, the figures 6000, 5600, 5200, are replaced with 6500, 6000, and 5800.
A new item will be added to the chapter “Central Election Commission” which will stipulate a salary of 7100 lei for the chairman of the Commission, 6500 for the deputy chairman and 6000 lei for its members.
Clerk-referents of the National Commission for the Financial Market will receive salaries varying between 1100-1650 lei, while department heads 2250-3000 lei. Other employees of the departments of these institutions will receive salaries ranging from 1200 to 2750 lei.
