Salaries in health sector will not be raised this year

The employees of medical institutions cannot hope for a pay raise this year. Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi said no resources have been earmarked in the budget for the purpose. The salaries will rise only if the institutions economize on heat, water and electric power, the official stated, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Andrei Usatyi said the personnel in the health sector should have monthly salaries of 5,000-7,000 lei. The Ministry of Health will make approaches to the Government and request that the salaries be increased at least next year. The minister also said that a new network of district hospitals is planed to be created during five years. 20-25% of the project’s costs will be covered by the state, while the rest with foreign financing, loans and grants. The National Clinical Hospital will be the first to be rehabilitated. “The hospital will undergo extensive repair. After the reconstruction, it will be like a private hospital inside. There will be bought modern medical equipment,” said Andrei Usatyi. The works will start this year by constructing a new surgery building.
