Salaries for Transnistria teachers and doctors to double in 2009

It is planned that in 2009 more than 300 million rubles (about 350 million lei) will go to raise salaries, in a first stage, for the public sector employees of the Transnistrian region. Doubled will be the salaries of teachers and of the doctors whose field of activity is associated with certain risks, and this is the case of radiologists, psychiatrists, and emergency doctors, Info-Prim Neo reports. Some 15 million rubles (about 18 million lei) will be allocated to increase salaries in the judiciary. This will be done by cutting staff in two other branches – the legislative and the executive. Altogether, salaries in the public sector will rise by 28 percent. However, experts are not optimistic about the financial standing of these people, as inflation, food prices and utility bills are also expected to increase considerably.
