Salaries in the national economy increase at a lower rate. The rise in September was of only 0.3%. The turnover in retail trade grew by 18% and the volume of services provided for the population by 5.1% owing mainly to the rise in remittances, says the monthly journal “Economic Reality” that is produced by the think-tank “Expert-Grup”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Coordinator of the journal Ana Popa said that for the first time this September the increase in remittances was at the level of a digit - 9%. “Though it is too early to formulate a conclusion on the basis of one month, it is expected that the remittances will rise slower until the end of this year,” she said.
A large part of the remittances now come from the CIS countries. The share of remittances in Russian rubles rose to almost 20%. This year, they grew at a rate of 100%. The remittances in euros increased by 25% on average.
Ana Popa said that the volume of remittances to persons living in rural areas is lower than in urban areas, especially in the municipality of Chisinau. During the last few years, the rural households received more money from abroad than the urban ones.
According to the journal “Economic Reality”, no major changes as regards the rise or decrease in salaries and other incomes of the population will occur by the end of this year.
