The Transnistrian administration has announced delays in paying salaries to budget-funded employees and pensions. The incomes collected in the region’s budget during the first two weeks of February are two times lower compared with the same period last year, IPN reports, quoting the local media.
On the local TV channel of Tiraspol, Elena Ghirjul, the so-called minister of finance of Transnistria, said the salaries for February will most probably be paid at the beginning of March, not at the end of this month, as usual. The pensions will also be paid with delays.
The negative money collection trends in Transnistria are due to the 27% decline in exports. It is projected that the budget deficit in the region this year will exceed 1 billion Transnistrian rubles (over 1.8 billion lei) for expenditure in the economic sector alone.
