Fifteen sakura (Japanese cheery) trees were planted on the lower part of Mircea cel Bătrân Blvd in Ciocana district of Chisinau. According to specialists of the Green Areas Association, if the sakura trees are not affected by frost, they will blossom this spring already, IPN reports.

Victoria Covali, director of the Green Areas Association, said the species was proposed according to the dendrological project, taking into account a number of factors, such as decorativeness, resistance to gases and pollution.

“In the city, we need species that are highly decorative and we group them according to season so that they flourish and adorn the places throughout the year,” stated Victoria Covali.

Over 200 trees and bushes, such as plane trees, maple trees, decorative apples and sakura, were planted in Chisinau during January 5-6.
