As the high temperatures make many leave homes and spend time outside, including swimming, rescuers reminded the rules that should be obeyed to avoid traumas or drowning. They warn against leaving the children to swim unsupervised or alone on the bank of the river or lake.
Deputy head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Anatolie Viniciuc told a news conference that joint teams of the subdivisions of the Ministry of the Interior will patrol the localities with an increased risk of drowning, including the areas close to the Prut and the Nistru. They will familiarize the people with the rules of behaving in water, IPN reports.
The persons who intend to travel are urged to check the period of validity of their IDs and to choose a less crowded border crossing point. “We urge you to maximally use our online devices so as to see the waiting time at border crossing points,” stated the Border Police chief Rosian Vasiloi. He noted that the families with small children will be checked the first so that they swifter cross the border.
The head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu warned society, in particular the parents, to pay special attention to the behavior of children, to be cautious when the minors remain home alone, when the children are involved in different online games or activities outside their homes and remain unsupervised.
“The carabineers will take measures to prevent and combat antisocial deeds so as to maintain an appropriate safety climate and will pay increased attention to places with many people where religious, cultural, sports and recreation events are to take place,” said the commander of the General Carbineer Inspectorate de Ștefan Pavlov.
At the start of June, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations launched a campaign to prevent drownings. At the lake of the Chisinau Park “Valea Morilor”, rescuers conducted a demonstration exercise and presented first aid maneuvers in case of drowning. According to the Inspectorate, 38 persons have been saved from drowning since the beginning of 2021. In the period, 22 people drowned in Moldova’s rivers and lakes, with four of the victims being children.
