Until January 8, 2025 students across the country have winter vacation. As children will be spending more time at home and in public spaces, police are drawing attention to the importance of minors' safety and coming up with recommendations to prevent incidents, IPN reports.
Officers advise children to ignore contacts with strangers and not give out personal information online.
"When staying home alone, do not open the door to strangers. Do not give out personal details when surfing the internet. Avoid interacting with strangers on the street. Cross the street only at pedestrian crossings and make sure that drivers have noticed you and give way", is the police's call for children.
Parents are encouraged to keep in constant dialog with their children, be informed about where they are going and who they interact with.
Police representatives give assurances that they will be on duty during the holidays and school vacations and encourage the public to call the single emergency number 112 in situations of risk.
