Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Ruxanda Glavan assured the MPs that the pensions and other types of social welfare are paid on time and there are no reasons for concern in this respect, IPN reports.
Answering an inquiry made by the head of the parliamentary commission on social protection Oxana Domenti, of the Communist faction, Ruxanda Glavan said all the social benefits were paid on time in January and in February and there are no arrears in this respect. They will continue to be paid on time and there are no reasons for concern.
The minister refuted the Socialist MPs’ assertion that the cold-month allowances are paid with delay. She noted that these allowances are paid on time and the number of people receiving them was even increased. Thus, the figure reached a record level in January – about 101,000 people.
Ruxanda Glavan also denied the reports that the holders of Soviet-type passports cannot receive their pensions. There are now less than 13,000 people using such documents and over 5,500 of them live on the left side of the Nistru River.
On March 4, the Government decided to increase the pensions by almost 8% from April 1 this year. In this connection, Ruxanda Glavan told the reporters that they are now drafting a bill providing that the pensions will be raised two times a year, not annually, as now.
