The ad interim charge d’affaires of Russia in Moldova Elena Kopnina was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration to be warned about events that take place in the Transnistrian region, with a direct impact on the Moldovan-Russian relations and the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Ministry, Elena Kopnina was summoned in connection with the intention of the Operational Group of Russian Troops deployed in the Transnistrian region to take part in the events that are to take place in Tiraspol on May 9 without the consent of the Moldovan constitutional authorities.

The Russian side was suggested to refrain from such actions, invoking in this regard the Moldovan-Russian Agreement of July 21, 1992, which provides that the Russian troops that are in the region will strictly respect the principle of neutrality in the relations between the two banks of the Nistru, until they are fully pulled out of Moldova’s territory.

In the same connection, there was stated the Moldovan authorities’ bewilderment at the adoption by Tiraspol of the decision to officially use Russia’s flag, alongside the Transnistrian one, in ceremonies and at the decision to proclaim March 2 as the day of the start of rejecting of the massive aggression of the Republic of Moldova against the Nistrean Moldovan republic and June 12 as Russia’s day.
