Russia’s Ambassador to Moldova Farit Muhametshin was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. According to the Ministry’s press service, Deputy Minister Lilian Darii invited this in connection with the appearance of reports about the recruitment of Moldovans to join the Armed Forces of Russia, IPN reports.
In the meeting, the deputy minister expressed his bewilderment at the given acts that are provocative in character. Lilian Darii said that these run counter to Moldova’s legislation and international law norms and asked the Russian diplomat to intervene and stop such activities.
In this connection, Lilian Darii reiterated the official position of Chisinau as regards the necessity of pulling out the Russian troops from Moldova’s territory and of transforming the current peacekeeping operation into an internationally mandated civil mission.
