The Russian natural gas will reach Moldova later this day. Wednesday the entire system will work as due, Aleksandr Gusev, the president of Moldovagaz, told a news conference Tuesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The agreements Russia made with Ukraine won't affect Moldova, since we have a contract with Gazprom till 2011, which establishes the formula of calculating the price of the gas,” Gusev said.
Moldovagaz's president has said Moldova will pay some $322 per 1,000 cubic meters in the first quarter of 2009.
“The Nistru's right bank does not have debts. All the debts belong to the Transnistrian area,” he added.
Russia resumed the gas deliveries to Europe via Ukraine, on Tuesday morning. The tap was shut earlier in January, following the conflict between Ukraine and Russia because of transit and price issues. Up to now Moldova got gas from Ukraine's reserves, covering half of its needs.
