The Foreign Ministry of Russia is concerned about the political situation in Moldova and hopes that the new Moldovan Parliament will overcome the political crisis in the country, the Ministryʼs representative Andrei Nesterenko said at a briefing in Moscow on Thursday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Andrei Nesterenko was quoted on the Russian Ministryʼs website as saying that the Russian Federation expects that there will be formed a compromise-based, stable political alliance that will not allow Moldova to slip into a systematic political crisis.
According to the Russian official, this crisis affects the economic development of the country, its foreign policy commitments and the process of solving the Transnistrian conflict.
“We hope that the Moldovan parliamentary parties will be making every effort to identify the necessary solutions,” Nesterenko said.
The official also said that the Russian authorities are ready to cooperate with Moldova at bilateral level in all the major areas.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev earlier said that Russia and Moldova will continue to cooperate regardless of the political seasons in the two countries.
