Experts in Moscow consider that the Ukrainian colored revolution scenario could repeat in Moldova in the near future, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting Novyi Reghion News Agency. The statements come as the Parliament failed to elect the head of state and Moldova will hold early parliamentary elections.
Alexandr Karavaev, vice president of the Informational-Analytical Center of the Moscow State University, predicts that the economic situation in Moldova will worsen following the destabilization caused by early elections. He considers that the Opposition could use this situation to accuse Vladimir Voronin of all the failures. Karavaev stresses that the continuity of power in Moldova could fail.
“If the ruling party and the Opposition do not reach a compromise, the external forces that work in Moldova will take the situation in their hands,” said Vitalii Juravliov, expert of the Russian Institute for Foreign Relations.
“It is not excluded that the forces are being tested before a real colored revolution,” said Evgheni Minchenko, director of the International Institute of Political Studies, referring to the April 7 events.
Mincenko also said that if the Communist Party does not introduce new political figures, it could obtain poorer results in the early elections. “In such a case, no colored revolution will be needed to remove Voronin and his party from power as they will be removed by elections,” the expert said.
