The Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to urgently summon the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau Oleg Ozerov to request official explanations and to express firm protest against such unacceptable actions. It happens after a number of drones, launched last night following Russian attacks on infrastructure in southern Ukraine, crossed the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Two of them fell and exploded in the south of the country, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its profound concern and strongly condemns the repeated violation of national airspace by drones launched following Russian attacks on infrastructure in southern Ukraine. On the night of February 13, Border Police patrols reported that a series of drones that crossed the territory of the Republic of Moldova, and two of them fell and exploded in uninhabited areas, one near Ciumai village in Taraclia district, and another on a field about 1.5 kilometers from Ceadâr-Lunga town and Valea Perjei village.

"These incidents pose a serious threat to the security of our citizens and underline the growing risks to regional stability. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but such violations of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated," said the MFA.

According to the institution, the Republic of Moldova considers these actions are a violation of its sovereignty and a risk to peace and security in the region. At the same time, the authorities reiterate their firm call for an immediate cessation of these aggressions and for strict compliance with international law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that, in coordination with the competent national institutions and international partners, it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to take all necessary measures to protect the Republic of Moldova and its citizens.
