The chairman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon, who returned from a visit to Moscow where he had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitri Rogozin, told a news conference that Russia will lift the ban on the import of Moldovan products if the authorities renounce the Association Agreement with the EU.

“The PSRM considers that Moldova is an independent state that must kneel before nobody from the East or from the West. However, from economic viewpoint, Moldova will gain more if it is near Russia,” said Igor Dodon, quoted by IPN.

The MP reiterated his call to the people to vote for the parties that can solve their problems. “We must understand that until the agreements signed with the EU are not annulled, the chances of resuming the exports to Russia are slim. This message is for the people of Moldova. After the parliamentary elections, we will insist on annulling the accords and will restore exports to Russia,” stated Igor Dodon.

He noted that he also discussed the gas issue in Moscow, saying that Moldova can obtain a twice lower price for gas if it pleads for integration into the Customs Union.

Asked which of the parties the PSRM will form a coalition with after the legislative elections, Igor Dodon said they will never form a coalition with Vlad Filat, Vlad Plahotniuc and Mihai Ghimpu, but are ready to join forces with the parties that are for the entry into the Customs Union and for keeping the statehood and the ‘Moldovan language and history’. Igor Dodon stated they can also come to terms with the Communist Party and the party of Renato Usatyi, if the principles promoted by them coincide.
