Russia will definitely attack Moldova, but it’s not known when, chairman of the 1992 War Veterans Association “Tiras-Tighina” Anatol Caraman said in a news conference at IPN.

Anatol Caraman stated that Russia has military success in Ukraine owing to the military executive staff that is pro-Russia. It happened similarly in Moldova during the Communist government. As a result, now more than half of the public organizations are anti-national, being financed by Russia.

The chairman of “Tiras-Tighina” requested the head of state, the Security Council and the Security and Information Service to intervene with concrete steps, and called on the Ministry of Defense to count all the servicemen in reserve and organize protection cantonments.

“As a public association whose members are veterans and former employees of the internal affairs bodies, we openly declare that we are ready to support the administration of Moldova if necessary. Everything depends on the attitude and measures that will be taken. If we prepare, we will cope with the pressure, but not alone. We need the support of the NATO and the Baltic states,” said Anatol Caraman.

Andrei Iuri-Apostol, a member of the standing bureau of the National Liberal Party, said that Article 11 of the Constitution, by which Moldova is declared an independent, sovereign and neutral state, is practically null and void as the status of neutrality is not accepted by the international community.

“We are compared with Switzerland, which is also a neutral state, but its neutrality status is respected. We tie our hands ourselves. We have an occupied territory that annihilates the neutrality as we have had foreign troops on our territory from the day we adopted the Constitution,” stated Andrei Iuri-Apostol.

The former MP said that given the tense situation in Ukraine, the Moldovan government should consider other ways of ensuring the people’s security, on condition that the NATO troops and the Russian troops do not have a direct impact and there is a red line that none of the sides will cross.
