Russia to provide assistance to relatives of Moldovans killed in train accident

 Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Gheman, at the beginning of the May 21 meeting of the Government, informed that six Moldovans were killed in the May 20 railroad accident in Moscow region, while 24 are in the local hospitals.

According to Natalia German, Moldova’s Ambassador in Moscow Andrei Galbur had a meeting with Russian Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov. The Russian official informed him that the Government of Russia will assist the relatives of those killed to transport the bodies home, IPN reports.

A working group was created at the Foreign Ministry of Moldova to monitor the situation and to intervene when necessary.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca repeatedly expressed his compassion to the relatives of those who died and to those who suffered injuries.

The list of the victims of the railroad accident will be published on the website of Moldova’s Railways www.railway.md. The company also set up a green line – 022834550 – that the relatives of the passengers of the train route No. 342 Moscow – Chisinau can use to find out more information.

The passenger train running on the Chisinau – Moscow route was hit by a Ukrainian freight train that derailed. Three railcars were seriously damaged. Five persons died on the spot, while the sixth died in the hospital.
