Russia to open in Moldova an institution for recruiting persons wanting to settle in Russia

Russia intends to open in Moldova, by the end of this year a subsidiary of the Russian Federal Migration Service (FMS) within the frameworks of the state program for supporting voluntary moving to the Russian Federation (RF).
According to the head of FMS, Constantin Romodanovski, cited by the Russian press, the procedure of concluding the documents will be simplified and all the interested persons can obtain them within 1-2 months. “People will leave for Russia in continuous inflows”, the cited source declared, mentioning at the same time that “Moscow is not in the list of cities needing inhabitants”. Referring to the declarations of the president Vladimir Putin, Romodanovskii said that “all persons who are spiritually close to us”, respect the laws, know Russian and can adapt without problems in Russia are “countrymen”.
By the end of the next year, these kinds of subsidiaries will be opened in 11 countries, of which during this year, in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Uzbekistan.
The decree regarding the State Program on supporting voluntary shift of compatriots to Russia was signed by Vladimir Putin at the end of June 2006. Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Tambov – in European zone, Tiumen, Novosibirsk, Krasnoiarsk, Primorsk, Habarovsk, Irkutsk and Amursk districts – in Siberia and Far East, are among the pilot-regions.
According to some statistics, over 20 mln Russian ethnics live outside the borders of Russia. Of them, according to the census organized in 2004, 201 218 Russian citizens live in the Republic of Moldova. This figure constitutes 5.9% of Moldova’s total population.
