For Moldova it is important that the positions, views and steps taken by Russia in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process take into account the views of the other members of the “5+2” format of the talks, Moldovan Ambassador in Moscow Andrei Galbur said in an interview for Radio Free Europe, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “Moscow is an important player in the settlement process and a mediator and, together with all the international players that form part of the “5+2” format, plays a key role in the process of identifying a solution to the conflict,” stated the ambassador. Andrei Galbur believes that the “5+2” format is the key to this solution as it involves both Chisinau and Tiraspol. It is a format that offers an open platform for all the participants to state their viewpoints on the method of overcoming the given crisis. Asked if Russia’s political will to resolve the Transnistrian dispute is noticeable, Andrei Galbur said that judging by the statements made at official level, there is wish to contribute to the solving of the crisis, by observing Moldova’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The talks in the “5+2” format involve Moldova, Transnistria, Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE, as well as the EU and the U.S. as observers.
