Russia’s federal sanitary service Rospotrebnadzor on its website announced officially that the imports of Moldovan wine products was stopped. The ban will be valid until the Moldovan authorities do not take a set of measures to make sure that the products are of a high quality, IPN reports.

Rospotrebnadzor informs that 21 of the 42 Moldovan wine and cognac companies export products to Russia. Over 25 million liters of wine products have been imported into Russia so far this year. Eight consignments with alcoholic beverages made by Vinaria Purcari, Cricova, Aroma, and Alianta-Vin didn’t meet the sanitary norms.

Experts describe the actions of Russia’s food safety body as political pressure.
Russia imposed an embargo on Moldovan wine products in 2006 too.
