Russia is behind those who demand abrogating the Law on Equality of Chances or the antidiscrimination law, as it is also called, said the director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO) Sergiu Ostaf, quoted by IPN.
“The synchronization of the political messages of the PCRM and of some categories of persons who represent the Russian clergy points to the existence of electoral and political support as well as to the expansion of the geopolitical interests of certain forces,” stated Sergiu Ostaf.
He also said that in certain regions of Russia there are promoted regional laws to combat the propagation of homosexuality. In Moldova, they also tried to promote these regional regulations so as to cultivate fear and misunderstanding in society.
“If this law is abrogated, a lot of categories of people will not benefit from certain opportunities for integrating into society and for developing the individual potential. These messages and scenarios are incompatible with such European values as tolerance and the construction of a powerful society,” said the CReDO director.
Last week, the Communist parliamentary group demanded abrogating the antidiscrimination law. Their proposal was ignored by the parliamentary majority. In protest, the PCRM left the assembly hall. The abrogation of the law was also requested by the Synod of the Orthodox Church.
