Russia found guilty by ECHR of violating human rights in Transnistrian region

Russia has been convicted in six cases by the ECHR and forced to pay 130,550 euros to people from the Transnistrian region whose human rights have been violated, a press release of Promo-LEX association said, quoted by IPN.

The complaints were filed against the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and Russia, and the cases were represented at the ECHR by Promo-LEX lawyers. "These are the cases of Beșleaga and Bevziuc, Ursu, Boltenco, Petiș and others, Samatova, Dobrovitskaya," Promo-LEX said.

Upon trial, the ECHR found that Russia violated Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, regarding inhuman and degrading conditions of detention, Article 5, on the right to liberty and security, Article 6, on the right to a fair trial, Article 13, regarding the right to an effective remedy and Article 2 of Protocol No. 4, regarding freedom of movement.

The High Court ruled on payment of moral damages in the amount of 121 550 euros to the individuals whose human rights have been violated and of legal representation costs and charges in the amount of 9000 euros.
