Deputy mayor of Chisinau municipality Ruslan Codreanu will run in the local mayoral elections, but not now. He made such a statement in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel. Ruslan Codreanu said he intends to compete in next year’s mayoral elections, IPN reports.

“I need time to show that I can do something. I worked for many years as a public servant. I’m not romantic or naive to venture into processes I cannot control,” stated Ruslan Codreanu. He noted he wants first to show to the citizens that he does not struggle for the post and is not engaged in politics.

Ruslan Codreanu said the decision as to who to vote for on May 20 is not a personal, but a team one. “It is a team decision because I came to the Municipal Council as part of a team and promised particular results to the voters. Next week we will take a decision to this effect,” he stated.

The deputy mayor noted that the European People’s Party of Moldova of which he forms part could field a candidate for the May 20 mayoral elections of Chisinau.

Editorialist Nicolae Negru said the visible steps taken by acting mayor Silvia Radu could be interpreted as intention to run in the new local elections in Chisinau municipality. “It is evident that Silvia Radu applies particular managerial and also PR tactics. She knows where to push and how to appear before the voters. We will see if the citizens approve of what she does,” stated Nicolae Negru.
