Ruslan Codreanu, ex-acting mayor of Chisinau, announced the constitution of the working group for the creation of a new political party, IPN reports. In a news conference on January 21, at 10.21, Codreanu said the new political party will not be of the right, of the center or of the left, with bodies, administration levels or doctrines. Their goal is to reach the 50% of the undecided voters who sent letters or petitions and weren’t heard.
“We want to build a community centered on people. We are launching a programmatic political movement centering on the real problems of people, not on political doctrines of the left or of the right,” stated Ruslan Codreanu, noting 200 crèches-kindergartens have the toilet facilities outside or the water in 2021 became a luxury for some.
The ex-mayor said the initiative group had its first public appearance today and in several days will start to collect signatures.
Doctor-pediatrician Mihai Stratulat, who forms part of the initiative group, said he decided to join in because he wants to change the situation in the health system and fight corruption existing in this system. He noted he visited the U.S., Japan and other countries and intends to bring the experience of these states in the field of the mother and child to Moldova.
Initiative group member Petru Socolan, third-year student in public administration, said the young specialists have to leave Moldova, but they want to stay. “We are tired of the promises, of parties that remember our problems only in election campaigns. We are few, but must do so that our voice is heard. We must work hard to ensure a bright future for our children and grandchildren at home,” stated the young man.
In July 2015 – November 2017, Ruslan Codreanu served as a municipal councilor on the part of the European People’s Party. In November 2017, he served as deputy mayor of Chisinau in charge of the social sphere. In April 2018 – July 2019, he held the post of acting mayor of Chisinau.
