By the end of this year, all the rural health centers will be decentralized. These centers are now financed through family doctors centers from districts, but from next year the money to them will be transferred directly. Program coordinator at the Center for Health Policies and Analysis Ghenadie Turcanu has told IPN that the decentralization will improve the quality of primary medical assistance and, as a result, the population’s state of health.

Ghenadie Turcanu said that a part of the sums that must reach the villages now stop at these district centers for different services such as maintenance of infrastructure. “Thus, the population benefits from fewer resources for their needs. That’s why the Ministry of Health wants to decentralize the provision of primary medical assistance services,” he stated.

At practical level, after decentralization a rural medical center will be in direct contact with the National Health Insurance Company. “Consequently, the people will benefit from better medical services. These centers will be supplied with all the things needed for good functioning. I refer to the equipment that must exist in health centers, including consumables for the daily work,” said Ghenadie Turcanu.

The doctors working at health centers will also benefit from the decentralization. First of all, they will receive higher salaries.
