The runoff election for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova can be declared valid, said the chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Angelica Caraman.

The centralized information shows that 1,690,911 voters cast their ballots at polling stations by 10:00 p.m., which is over 54%. Based on these data and in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, which requires a mandatory presence of not less than 1/5 of the voters on electoral rolls, the runoff presidential election can be declared valid, the CEC head said at a press briefing at 10:00 p.m.

At 09:00 p.m., all the polling stations in the country closed. The program of the polling stations in Moscow, Tel Aviv, Brasov, Constanta and Kaiserslautern was extended by one hour due to the large number of voters.

Postal ballots will be opened after the closure of all polling stations in host countries.

In accordance with the electoral legislation, the electoral bureaus of polling stations shall transmit to district electoral councils the electoral documents and materials no later than 18 hours after the closure of polling station. For their part, the district electoral councils shall submit to the Central Election Commission the minutes on the tabulation of election results, electoral documents and materials within 48 hours of the closure of polling stations.

The final results of the runoff election will be presented on Monday, November 4, during a press briefing at 10:00 a.m.
