The ruling party and other left-wing politicians celebrated the Labor Day in Chisinau on May 1. They made promises and summed up the electoral and post-electoral events, reiterating that the organizers of the April 7 violent protests will be punished. Those that gathered in the square of the National Opera House chanted “Live May 1!”, “Live Labor Solidarity! Peace! Hurray!”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“May 1 has always been an original holiday. The people come here in a good mood. But, given the events that took place, we must talk about the problems that confront us,” the outgoing president and leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin said.
The head of state said that the events of April 7, when the buildings of the Parliament and Presidential Office were devastated, were a criminal order. The organizers got angry because the PCRM won the elections democratically for the third time in a row. “It is a nightmare for the organizers that the Communists won in central Europe for the third time. All their theories, concepts and slogans to eradicate communism have died,” Voronin said.
According to him, those that destroyed the state institutions should not complain that their rights are violated after what they did. “They destroy the Parliament and the Presidential Office, throw stones at the policemen and cry that their rights are violated. Did we bring them by force and ask them to destroy the state institutions? It is an invented foolishness to destroy what we built during 8 years.”
Veronica Abramciuc, the former president of the Socialist Party of Moldova “Patria-Rodina” who entered the Parliament on the PCRM ticket, said that the Liberals have nothing sacred and have no shame as they persuaded the young people to destroy the two buildings. She said that “the dirty dogs of the nation must be shamed and hooted.”
“We must try those that destroyed the peace in Moldova and show solidarity in order to prevent a repeat of the April 7 events,” the Communist MP Grigore Petrenco said.
“I and my team celebrate May 1 by organizing different activities. I am a consistent man and think that May 1 is a social holiday that Moldova also needs, especially when there is a crisis and the role of the trade unions and the state in economy is very important,” said Eduard Musuc, the former secretary of the Social Democratic Party. According to him, May 1 is an important holiday as the people do not have workplaces and hard work is needed in order to solve a lot of problems.
