The Party of Communists accuses the Christian Democrat People’s Party of continuing to sabotage the interests of the residents of Chisinau, by stirring up artificial scandals to the detriment of the political class and the country on the whole. The statement was made by Svetlana Cocos, the representative of the campaign staff of the PCRM on May 28. Cocos made this statement after the Supreme Court of Justice decided to offer the Great National Assembly Square to the Christian-Democrats, although the ruling party has previously announced about a concert with the participation of Sofia Rotaru. PCRM accuses PPCD of ill-will and regrets the decision of the SCJ, as it has to comply with it. The representatives of the PCRM denied the accusation brought by other candidates, as Dumitru Braghis and Vladimir Filat, who say that the ruling party has plotted denigrating actions against them. Ghenadie Gluscenco, the representative of the PCRM said that they do not have proofs in this respect, and that PCRM is not involved in such actions. Also, Gluscenco said that Veaceslav Iordan, the candidate running on behalf of the Party of Communists does not participate in the TV debates because “he has many meetings with the voters, meetings which he considers more efficient”. The representatives of the PCRM qualified the accusations and the statements of the other candidates as a desperate attempt to improve their image. Commenting upon the accusations of the ruling party, Iurie Rosca, the leader of the PPCD, said that it is not good that PCRM speculates on the concert with Sofia Rotaru. “They should not have announced about the event without an official authorisation”, he said. Referring to the campaign, he said that the situation is tensed. There are violations, pressures on opposition candidates and use of administrative resources, situation which disfavours all the candidates, except the PCRM, the PPCD leader says. Also Rosca said that he fears that the results of the election will be tainted to a great extent, and that is why the elections will be closely observed in order to decide over the validity of the elections which will take place on June 3.
