The national rugby team of Moldova climbed two spots in the world rankings of national teams. After beating Ukraine 28-8 last Saturday, Moldova ranks 25th.
The team trained by Sergiu Motoc is thus the best-ranked among the squads of the European Nations Cup group 1B. Group leader Germany fell one spot to the 27th. Moldova’s next opponent – the Czech Republic – comes 49th in the world ranking.
The encounter between Moldova and the Czech Republic will take place in Prague on April 26. The same day, Germany meets away Sweden, which is ranked 42nd.
Germany is for now the favorite for promotion to the first group of Europe. Moldova has the same score, but the Germans have the advantage of direct matches. Moldova will qualify if it beats the Czech Republic and Germany is defeated by Sweden.
