The round of Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format that will take place in Dublin is a preparatory one, Radu Vrabie, program director at the Foreign Policy Association (APE), has told Info-Prim Neo
“It is for the first time that the Transnistrian delegation will come at the negotiations in a new format. That’s why the Moldovan authorities should review the principles and directions that the so-called Transnistrian foreign ministry will try to promote. For its part, Tiraspol, which considers that it made important concessions to Chisinau, such as the annulment of the import tax of 100% on the Moldovan products, also waits for concessions or other steps,” said Radu Vrabie.
The participants in the talks will continue to discuss the items included in the agenda of the round held in Vilnius on November 30. They concern the negotiation principles. The APE expert considers that the most important items on the status and transformation of the peacekeeping mission will be discussed in the next rounds of talks as the meeting in Dublin will be more a preparatory one.
The talks will take place in Ireland’s Dublin on February 28-29. The formal talks in the 5+2 format were resumed in Vilnius on November 30, after a pause of almost six years.
