“Currently, 38 border police officers are waiting for their sentences as the cases were already sent to court or they were suspended from posts by the Prosecutor’s Office because investigation measures are being taken. We now focus on the prevention of such cases and on the motivating of the personnel by aspects related to social protection, decent salaries, decent working conditions,” Rosian Vasiloi stated in a special edition on the public TV channel.

The head of the Border Police said their institution aims to create an employee reward fund so that the border police and customs officers could be remunerated for identifying smuggling attempts.

“A relevant proposal was formulated, but a number of bills were put off when the war started as we focused on the management of the refugee crisis. As this year was declared the Year of the Border Police, we will do our best for this mechanism to become functional,” he stated.
