Romania’s expertise in bringing the legislation closer to the EU standards will help us move faster in the negotiation process, Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu stated in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Luminita Odobescu, who is on a visit to Chisinau, IPN reports.
Speaker Grosu thanked Minister Odobescu for the help provided to the Republic of Moldova in the official launch of the EU accession negotiations, noting that, during all this time, the Romanian official has supported the reform agenda of Moldova both in Brussels and in the relationship with EU member states.
During the discussions, the interlocutors agreed to establish more active cooperation in a number of fields. “It is important for us to know that we have such a strong and dedicated partner as Romania, on our way to build a European Moldova,” stated Igor Grosu.
The Speaker stressed that 2024 is an election year both in the Republic of Moldova and in Romania. “That’s why we agreed to join our efforts in the fight against disinformation and criminal groups that aim to destabilize the situation in the region,” said the Moldovan official.
