Romanian Universities avoid Moldovan students

Most of the Romanian universities have either diminished the number of places offered for Moldovan students, either refused to work with them at all, states the “Guardian” newspaper. ”It’s a rather embarrassing situation, because most of the students are poorly prepared and we are forced to graduate them out of pity” state the universities. As a result, the Romanian Ministry of Education has issued only three subscribing centers for Moldovan students for the new study year: “The Lower Danube” University from Galati, “Al. I. Cuza” University from Iasi and “Stefan cel Mare” from Suceava. Therefore, in an official statement of the Ministry, it is specified that the applications can be placed from 17 till 27 august, and have to be placed by “citizens of Republic of Moldova, graduates with a school-leaving examination from high-schools of this country, from any promotion, that have not been to any undergraduate studies, with financial aid, in Romania”. For this category of applicants 475 places have been created. Another 525 places have been assigned for citizens of Moldova that have a school-graduation examination from high-schools of Romania. “These candidates will take the exam at the universities they wish to enter in the same period and with the same conditions as the citizens of Romania, but will have places reserved by the Ministry of Education. The admittance grade cannot be smaller than 5.00 or an equivalent” a press release has related. In the same period candidates for master’s or PhD degrees, graduates from faculties from both Moldova and Romania, can place their applications, regardless of promotion year.
