Senator Viorel Badea of Romania, the deputy chairman of the foreign policy committee in the Romanian Senate, has opened a parliamentary bureau in Chisinau and intends to open two more in Cahul and Balti, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Sen. Badea told a press conference on Wednesday the intention is to bridge the holders as well as non-holders of Romanian citizenship living in Moldova with the Romanian authorities. “The purpose is to become a conveyor belt between the citizens and the authorities”, Badea said, adding that he will also cooperate with the Moldovan authorities to assist the citizens of Moldova.
The bureau, located at the business center Le Roi, will work daily during two hours, and will start its activity in March.
Sen. Badea also spoke about the possibility of re-launching the Moldo-Romanian interparliamentary committee. “This committee will hold successive sessions in Bucharest and Chisinau. We could actively collaborate to endorse certain legislative initiatives that will favor the citizens of both countries”, he said. The senator added that he has a special project for Moldova – an investment center in Chisinau to attract foreign investment into Moldova, in particular from Romania.
He also announced that the Romanian consulates in Balti and Cahul could start activities within 30 days, while the Lipcani-Radauti bridge will be inaugurated on February 15.
Sen. Badea reiterated Romania's position concerning the inclusion of the Republic of Moldova into the West Balkan enlargement package, a mission which, he says, is neither simple nor impossible, especially since “there is an increasing opening on the part of the European countries toward welcoming Moldova home”.
Senator Viorel Badea was elected to this office in constituency no.43, which includes Moldova.
