The year 2025 is crucial for both Romania and the Republic of Moldova, considering the upcoming elections in both countries. Wisely managing internal issues and challenges is essential. This statement was made by Romania's interim president, Ilie Bolojan, during a press conference alongside Moldova's head of state, Maia Sandu, in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The two countries have decided to strengthen their joint efforts, promote initiatives to combat disinformation, and enhance strategic communication.

Ilie Bolojan emphasized that his presence in Chisinau, along with his colleagues from the Romanian government, is a sign of respect and demonstrates their support and commitment to strengthening relations between the two nations.

"The fact that we have come to consult with each other in these complicated times once again highlights our partnership and brotherhood. I welcome the sustained efforts and consistent actions of the pro-European political forces, thanks to which the Republic of Moldova now has a political leadership that reflects the pro-European choice of its citizens," said Romania's interim president.

Ilie Bolojan praised Moldova's efforts in recent years toward European integration. He highlighted the upcoming period as a historic opportunity to accelerate the European project, which serves as the most suitable framework for modernization and overall development, directly benefiting the citizens.

"I assure you that Romania will stand by your side. European integration is the only option that can provide sustainable solutions to Moldova's challenges. This means promoting reforms in the European spirit, modernizing society and the economy - key aspects that align with citizens' expectations", Bolojan stated.

Regarding security concerns, in addition to the war at its border, Moldova faces its own frozen conflict. Romania supports a comprehensive, peaceful, and lasting resolution of the Transnistrian conflict, respecting Moldova's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and ensuring that its pro-European future remains intact.

For her part, President Maia Sandu stated that this visit on a day of celebration is proof that the relationship between Moldova and Romania is not just a political or strategic partnership but a heartfelt connection based on shared values, language, and history, as well as mutual support. She described Romania as Moldova’s most important partner, best friend, strongest advocate, and the shoulder on which Moldova leans in difficult times.

"Over the years, Romania has always stood by us with concrete support, with projects that improve people's lives, and with a clear and firm voice in support of our European path. Together, we have built roads, renovated schools and kindergartens, connected energy networks, and invested in our villages," the Moldovan president noted.

"Romania is a reliable partner in our efforts to become a modern and European state. Beyond our common projects, we share a vision for the future, a desire to live in peace, freedom, and democracy", Maia Sandu concluded.
