The President of Romania Traian Basescu said that the Moldovan Opposition that boycotted the election of the head of state taught thus a lesson, showing that “not everything can be bought in politics”. Basescu stated this during a program on TVR1 on Wednesday evening, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The Romanian president congratulated those that resisted the ‘enormous’ pressure exerted upon them, referring to the members of the Opposition that did not give the so-called golden vote. Only one vote cast in favor of the candidate proposed by the Communist Party of Moldova would have made them victorious. The president added yet that the non-election of the head of state and, implicitly, the political instability are to Moldova’s detriment.
