The Government that will be led by Pavel Filip has all the chances to be voted in because a parliamentary coalition has been recently formed in Chisinau. The new Government will be a pro-Western one, but it will have to show this by reforms, not by promises, Romanian political consultant Radu Magdin said in an interview for RFI. This noted that if early legislative elections take place, as Igor Dodon and Renato Usatyi want, the pro-Russian forces will come to power. The expert called on the Romanian politicians to stop exporting their political sympathies to Chisinau, IPN reports.

Radu Magdin considers the Filip Government has all the chances to be invested because a majority around the Democratic Party of Moldova took shape when the name of the candidate was made public, with over 50 MPs sending a set of signatures in this regard.

The consultant said this will be a crisis Cabinet that will have to present minimal visiting cards based on efficiency and credibility on the path of reforms or it will not get money. The top priority for Moldova now is to secure the finances needed for the functioning of the state.

As to the challenge concerning the nomination of Filip, submitted by the Socialists, Radu Magdin stated that it has no legal basis, but these try to promote the provocation of early elections that would bring the pro-Russian forces to power. “The Socialists are dissatisfied because it is in their political interest. They know well that if early elections are held, their party and the party of Renato Usatyi could ensure a majority in Parliament,” he stated.

Radu Magdin considers the Filip Government will be a pro-European one, but it will have to prove this. “I think this will be forced to be pro-Western, but the West is no longer naïve as saying “Yes, I’m pro-European and want a relation with the West!” is not enough. One should be able to show a series of victories, in stages, based on a plan of pro-European reforms. The reforms are those that will validate or not the pretention of being pro-European” he said.

As to Romania’s role, the expert said the Romanian politicians should stop exporting their sympathies to various camps in Chisinau and should build a constructive dialogue with Chisinau. “If we look at the political statements made in Romania during the last few days, we can see that each one promoted their own party and their political affinities. I think we should look at our national interest, which is to have with whom to discuss in the Republic of Moldova.Given that Romania intends to lend €150 million to Moldova, I think we should attentively examine the lending conditions and not forget that besides offering support to a brother state, we should also take care of Romanian taxpayers’ money,” stated Radu Magdin.
