The vice president of the Romanian People’s Party (PPR) Tatiana Potâng will serve as acting president of the party after former president Vlad Țurcanu resigned. The decision was taken in the meeting of the National Political Council of the PPR last weekend, IPN reports.
In a press release, the party said the meeting centered on the report presented by the group delegated by the PPR’s executive to represent the party at the discussions about the founding of the “Union” People’s Movement that involved a number of unionist parties. There was examined and edited the text of the agreement on the constitution of the Movement that will be signed by the leaders of the constitutive parties this week.
The Council familiarized itself with the resignation decision announced publicly by Vlad Țurcanu, describing the gesture as contemptible, non-collegial and disrespectful to all those who put their trust in him at the last congress and in the last election campaign.
