The current energy situation, its socio-economic consequences and related to the trilateral cooperation between Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine were the main topics discussed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi and his Romanian counterpart Emil Hurezeanu, who is on a working visit to Chisinau, IPN reports.

"In the difficult moments that our country is going through, when some try to make our lives harder, others, such as Romania, have always been by our side and have always encouraged us in our aspirations," said Mihai Popșoi.

For his part, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Emil Hurezeanu stressed the importance of the relations between the two countries and said that close cooperation in the bilateral relations will be continued. He also referred to the crisis that Moldova is going through.

"The path to energy independence is not easy, and hybrid attacks will continue, but all these actions contributed to closer ties between us. We are glad that we implement more projects in common and that Romania supplies to the Republic of Moldova over 50-60% of the current electricity needs," stated Emil Hurezeanu.

The Romanian official also had talks with President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

Emil Hurezeanu took over as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania last December. This is the first visit abroad paid after he took office.
