Romanian rapporteur for Moldova in the European Parliament Dragoş Tudorache said he will not comment on the Moldovan authorities’ decision to meet the humanitarian aid provided by Romania in another area of the capital city than where such ceremonies are traditionally held, which is in the Great National Assembly Square. According to the Romanian official, what is important is that the aid was delivered to Moldova, IPN reports.

”I would not comment on the motivation of the authorities in Chisinau for such a decision. What is now important is that they understood what was or should have been a gesture of normality, namely this relation of brotherhood, as it goes beyond neighborhood and is felt best in difficult moments. As to the fact that this Government refused this gesture that the Republic of Moldova, the authorities, always made when support from Romania arrived, I think the authorities will have to report to Moldovan society and voters when time comes,” Dragoş Tudorache stated in the program “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

The MEP noted the content of the provided assistance and the fact that this aid arrived in the Republic of Moldova are what matters and the citizens should feel the European support and the Romanian support in this difficult moment.

Even if many countries stopped the export of medicines, Romania continued to export drugs to the Republic of Moldova and this is a gesture of solidarity typical of the entire European continent, according to the Romania official.

“You should know that everyone faces this pandemic to an equal extent, I would say, even if the resources of each European country are different. Symmetry is what is yet common in this crisis. We are equally infected. The people are affected equally, no matter where they come from and how they live and this makes solidarity that is expressed now at European level to be defining for what characterize this continent, such values as solidarity, brotherhood, neighborhood,” stated Dragoş Tudorache.

Victor Guzun, Moldova’s ex-ambassador to Estonia, said the assistance provided by the Romanian authorities is something normal, but this subject should not be politicized. “I was bothered by those political discussions about this very good event. I always said the fact that we try to look at most of things through the political angle is a great disadvantage to any noble cause. I have nothing to add here. We should not politicize such a nice deed, such a splendid day and brotherly assistance, as Mister Tudorache said,” he noted.

The Romanian humanitarian aid delivered to Moldova on May 7 consisted of 1,200 boxes of Platinium, 1,600 boxes of Kaletra, 500,000 ffp2 masks, 25,000 protective suits, 5,000 pairs of protective glasses, 5,000 visors, ten isolation containers, 40,000 liters of sanitary alcohol and 25,000 liters of biocide.
